Be part of a unique exhibition blending art and poetry! Inspired by The Destiny of Peaches, a moving poem by

Valley Cottage Library
Banned Book Trading Cards
According to the American Library Association, 4,240 unique book titles were targeted for censorship in 2023, with 46.2% of those challenges occurring in public libraries.
The Valley Cottage Library is fighting back with the celebration of the right to read, and the creation of original artwork inspired by, these books. They are looking for artists to create original works of art depicting reimagined book covers of banned or challenged books that will become a trading card in our banned books trading cards.
Application deadline is May 31st, but you will have until July 15th to submit the actual work. Click here for more info and to apply.
There will be a corresponding exhibition during the month of September and an artists' reception on September 6th. All participating artists will receive a deck of trading cards.

PFLAG Rockland is seeking artwork from 24 artists for a new coloring book which includes a HEART element. Your participation will help make a difference in the lives of LGBTQ+ youth in Rockland County.

Artists Needed for Painting/Restoration Project
Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern, NY
Good Samaritan Hospital has offered a half-acre of land to create a permanent memorial called the “Mother Mary Zita Memorial Park in memory of the Sisters of Reparation at St. Zita’s Villa.”
They are seeking artists to help restore the 102-year-old Stations of the Cross, which will be part of this memorial. The project must be completed by June 2025. Artists will have their names permanently engraved on the memorial and receive recognition from the Church.The Sisters of Reparation were known for their interfaith work, and they welcome artists from all faiths to participate in this project.

Placemats for The Burger Loft - We are producing paper placemats to be used in The Burger Loft in Nyack. We will create black and white line drawings that can be colored in by diners (i.e. children) eating in the restaurant (The Burger Loft is supplying crayons). We will have 2 drawings on each placemat.
This is the template for the placemats. The drawing should be no larger than 7” x 10” (portrait orientation). Please submit your drawings for the placemats to nyackartcollective@gmail.com or text Kris Campbell at 845-652-3373 with questions!
ACOR Mentorship Program -The Arts Council of Rockland (ACOR) needs your support! They are actively seeking both emerging and established artists to apply to their 2025 ACOR Mentorship Program. This is a free, emerging artist leadership program which seeks to develop young, diverse visual artists by providing support through mentorship, professional development, constructive critique, and project development.

Figure Drawing - Resumes October 1, 2024
The Nyack Art Collective sponsors a weekly Figure Drawing session in Nyack on Thursday evenings from 6:30-9:15 pm. The Figure Drawing sessions with a live model are held at X House, 48 S. Franklin St, Nyack. These sessions are open to the public. Artists must provide their own materials and may bring an easel if desired. Session is $15 per person, $13 for Nyack Art Collective members.
