Carol Porter Maurer

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Carol Porter Maurer relocated to the metropolitan New York area, where the city's vibrant art scene inspired her to pursue her lifelong passion for painting.

An accomplished artist in both oil and watercolor, Maurer trained in the classical atelier tradition under Boston North Shore artist Zygmund Jankowski. She also studied with Dan Gibbons of New York City. Maurer's figurative watercolors have been featured in the Edward Hopper House's annual exhibition, Focus on the Figure, while her vibrant Jazz Series stems from her deep love of music.

Maurer participates in solo and group exhibitions across New Jersey, Connecticut, and New York. She is also a member of the Nyack Art Collective.

Artist Statement

"I am a painter, and I deeply enjoy the process. I love to push paint and explore multiple interpretations of a single subject. My images reflect mood and daily emotions. These nuances are expressed - or intentionally left absent - through shape and color, answering the question: How am I feeling today?"

Will Savage

Will Savage is a local artist originally from Piermont, NY. He studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York.  These street scenes grew from his curiosity about Cuba after witnessing the Mariel boat-lift of 1980 in Key West, where the artist lived at the time. Years later he would travel to the island with a camera, to take alot of pictures which became the raw material to create the paintings.

There is a subtle veiled effect in some of the images, which might imply the embargo and it's effects, and offer relief from so much dis-information about Cuba in the press.
