After dropping out of art school due to sexual harassment, I began working evenings in the art department of a Madison Avenue ad agency They were producing projected media and I was in at the inception of what was to become a cutting-edge industry. It allowed me to the freedom to experiment in another medium - light! For over 30 years as a freelance designer, I was hired by NYC producers to design major multi-media projects.
Meanwhile, I was doing artwork of my own. It was overwhelmingly feminist, although I was not cognizant of that at the time. I was surprised and puzzled at a lot of what I created. Later I grew to understand my work as I learned to understand myself.
I didn’t plan to create a video about Climate Change, but once I started, my background working with light, color, and in sequence came naturally. It became an obsession. Since childhood I have worried about the way we abuse our planet. I led a group of neighborhood girls at age nine to clear out a garbage-strewn stream! Earth: An Animated Allegory is my contribution as an artist to helping our planet survive.
